10th Anniversary -What a Day!

Our 10th Anniversary Event  was a huge success !! We had a fantastic turnout so we were able to have a shotgun start. Thank you to all of our golfers who took time out of their busy schedules to join us.

We had a delicious BBQ lunch sponsored by one of the tournaments biggest supporters Castle Building CentresProducts, which our golfers enjoyed before hitting the links under sunny skies (finally)

Once again we had Peter Martin of the FAN 590, and former Toronto Argonaut, as our Master of Ceremonies - thanks Peter, as always, you were amazing! A big thank you to Dr Keshavjee for re-arranging your busy schedule to join us for our 10th anniversary event and bring us up to date on current happenings in the world of transplantation.  We also honoured Kim Cassar, one of the founders of our event. An amazing young woman, who is tireless in her support of transplant. Kim is now awaiting a kidney transplant,  and because of our event photographer Ti Sheffield (Kims cousin) who will be a living donor, which will allow Kim to receive her transplant.

We were once again fortunate enough to have Sean Jackson and Alina Slawek with us for some awesome entertainment on the patio before dinner. As an extra treat TJ & Mark Tobin’s daughter Aynsley entertained us by playing guitar and singing during dinner !!  Dinner, as always, was something to look forward to. Jimmy and his staff served us a scrumptious fresh barbeque dinner including an amazing table with antipastos, salads, and veggies and all the sweet cakes & pies anyone could every ask for, it is quite a spread of food.

The auction table was full of great items to bid on including jewellery, Jays / Leafs / Raptors tickets, some fabulous photographs, hotel and restaurant certificates, tools, even a garage door opener.  We had a raffle, with the winners receiving a BBQ , succulent garden and handmade quilt .  Our fifty fifty draw was  quite wealthy with the winner, Cheryl Sheffield, taking home over $800 !!! How incredible that this money was won by the wife of our photographer and kidney donor!!!

Due to the generous donations, and incredible volunteers - please see attached acknowledgement sheet - we are able  to raise money without having extraordinary  expenses. Our total money being donated to Lung Transplant Research is just over $31,000 (that is our 2nd hightest total)  ! This brings our ten year total to almost $290,000 - wow. Looking forward to breaking the $300K mark with next years event.
